Everything, All Around, You is a story that’s ending will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, what a sweet book! It’s so difficult to put into words just how important it is for children to hear the message told in this story, one that describes the reader themselves as the special thing the protagonist is looking for. People, especially children, do not inherently believe they are special or loved. Being told that they are “Kind–smart–sensitive–brave–cool–Silly–determined–curious-weird…” can truly make the difference in a child’s self-esteem.
All of us deserve to be loved fully and wholeheartedly for our quirks, not despite them, and author Margo Connolly-Masson does this perfectly as a fun surprise at the end of the reading! We spend the whole story figuring out what or who this child is looking for that will cure their loneliness, and then we find out that it’s the reader! They are the amazing someone whose presence alone is enough to brighten anyone’s day, and truly this message from Connolly-Masson is something everyone needs to hear once in a while.
