Beebee and the Amazing Honeycake Rules is a story that teaches the delicate art of problem solving, specifically problem solving when you’re in a situation that would normally incite panic. The ‘Honeycake Rules’ as mentioned in the book work just as good in real life as they do in fiction! Being able to notice when something you’re doing isn’t working, and taking the time to be still and observe your situation before acting. The little bees are also faced with the fear of the dark, and Maulhardt once again shows the reader how to handle their fear by looking for something good instead. 

Maulhardt then gives the reader the final and most important message of the book, to have faith that they will always make their way back home, and that things will get better no matter how dark the night may be. This is a book that shows us how no situation is completely hopeless, that the moon and the stars will always be there to guide us back to safety.

Allyson Rankin is an English major and tutor at Cape Cod Community College, along with being awarded a place in Phi Theta Kappa: International College Honor Society. She desires to work in the publication industry, specifically as an editor, and is working hard every day to hone the skills needed to meet that goal.
