Our Mission: Compassion in Action

I named Briley & Baxter after my miniature dachshunds, Briley and Baxter—one of whom I rescued from Arkansas—and that spirit of care drives everything we do. We donate 10% of our monthly publishing royalties to animal welfare organizations like Last Hope K9 Rescue, Dachshund Rescue of South Florida, and Freedom Service Dogs of America. For me, this isn’t just a nice add-on—it’s who we are. Unlike many indie publishers focused solely on the bottom line, we weave philanthropy into our core, inviting authors and readers to join us in making the world a little brighter for animals in need.

I’ve designed our publishing model to give authors real options, something I craved in my own career. We offer both traditional contracts—where we handle editing, design, and distribution—and hybrid deals that let writers keep more control and earn higher royalties. It’s a flexible approach that works for everyone, from high school students to retired athletes. I started this company because I was frustrated with the slow pace of my old publisher—six months between series installments, even with Hollywood knocking for my Gripped series. Drawing on my decade of experience, I assembled a team to get books out faster without cutting corners. Since 2019, we’ve released over 100 books, including award-winners and two series in TV development. I’m proof that speed and excellence can go hand in hand.

Our catalog is as diverse as our authors—spanning adult fiction, non-fiction, young adult, children’s, sci-fi, fantasy, self-help, and Christian titles for all ages. From my own Gripped and Montgomery Lake High series, which tackle tough issues like substance abuse, to kids’ gems like Stephanie Ade’s My One Wish, every story we tell has heart. Amy, our Lead Designer, crafts stunning covers and layouts that grab attention and feel just right for the market. We’re a tight-knit crew, not some faceless operation outsourcing everything. Our shared love for books and animals shines through, giving every project a personal touch you won’t find at bigger indie houses.

I’m a Plymouth native, and I love that we’re rooted here—publishing local talents like Whitman’s Stephanie Brazer, Kingston’s Jenna Feitelberg, and Forestdale’s Teddy Biron.
