Crocodile Christmas Tree written by Nichole Conran and illustrated by Maddy Moore is a delightful children’s book perfect for the holiday season. The story takes place Christmas morning when Cris the crocodile realizes he needs to get something for his mom to make her morning extra special. He decides that since he’s green and tall, he would make the perfect christmas tree! Using resources around the house, he manages to become perfectly decorated with even a star on top to seal the deal. Just like he imagined, his mom was super happy and touched by his thoughtful act.
While Crocodile Christmas Tree is a fun and easy read for kids, it also teaches a valuable lesson. Christmas time can be stressful and place a lot of pressure on people to give the best, most expensive gifts in order to make their loved ones happy. What we forget so often, is that sometimes an act of love or a homemade gesture is more sacred than any item that could be bought from the store. Just like Cris, readers are encouraged to get creative and use their resources to come up with a special gesture that will be remembered for years to come. Perfect for children looking to get into the Christmas spirit, Crocodile Christmas Tree is a great addition to a young readers collection.
