Nichole Conran Reviews “The Crash” by Isabelle Semas

In this debut novel by Isabelle Semas, “The Crash” tells a story about a new type of world that evolves after a World War. Semas offers a glimpse into a setting where humans rely on computers. The world she creates is interesting, with specific citizens being cared for and sheltered by the government while the rest are outcasts. When there’s a crash, what’s truly happening behind the scenes is slowly revealed as the characters grapple to survive.  

Semas writes with vivid descriptions and a creative storyline in this dystopian novel. She captures the characters’ emotions and relationships with each other in an engaging way. Readers will become invested in their desperate attempt to save their loved ones. The secrecy behind certain character’s actions will draw a reader in as they unravel the mysteries.  

“The Crash” follows two main characters, Taelor and Phybe, as their reality shatters and they are forced to take a stand against the darkness within their government. Concerned for their loved ones, they band together as Rebels to overcome the deceit and destruction threatening their world. With God as a source of their strength, they find the power within themselves to continue fighting. This action-packed novel will leave readers turning pages as they seek to discover if Taelor and Phybe can save their loved ones, and themselves.
